Degree: Masters of Arts in Theology (MAT)

Duration: 2 years

 

Programme Rationale

The Master of Arts in Theology (MAT) of Uganda Christian University is intended for people holding pastoral positions, those preparing to teach in theological institutions, universities, and schools, those who are preparing for further research, or anyone who wants to explore a particular area of ministry in detail.

 

Entry Requirements

The formal requirement for admission to the MAT is at least a second-class degree, or its equivalent, in Divinity or Theology. 

 

All applicants must pass a faculty interview.

The programme spans a minimum of two academic years.  However, if the student has to leave the cohort for any accepted reason, he can rejoin a later cohort, but must complete the programme within a maximum of four years.

NB:  Students with a weak biblical studies background will be required to take the following courses with MDiv classes:  Biblical Interpretation, Pentateuch, Old Testament Prophets, Old Testament Wisdom Literature and Psalms, and Greek and Hebrew I.
